In 1974, while working in rehabilitation; training handicapped adults in wheelchairs for the Special Olympics. He integrated the use of the stick as a way to make athletes more flexible in their upper bodies. Later, in Portland , Oregon , while teaching physical conditioning and body awareness, he incorporated the use of a stick with yogic postures and principles, blended with Tai Chi movements. That's how Dynamic Spinal Stretching/Stick Stretching was born.
In his Chiropractic practice, Dr. Arthur sees a variety of spinal conditions which usually come from a combination of factors: poor posture, lack of muscle tone, weak stomach and back muscles, overweight, inflexibility, and stress, just to mention a few. Dynamic Spinal Stretching/Stick Stretching offers an innovative and balanced system for dealing with some of these factors, as well as an intelligent approach to optimal health and improved body awareness, which also assists in preventing injuries. “It is my belief that Dynamic Spinal Stretching/Stick Stretching can assist us in being more present in the body, allowing our innate intelligence to direct the flow, movement and stretch as we enjoy our life from a place of balance and symmetry.”
